Story has always been at the center of Jack Gorman’s career.
After spending two decades in professional sports—working in communications, scouting, live event production, and digital media—Jack transitioned into filmmaking, bringing with him a unique combination of creative storytelling and real-world production experience.
Today, Jack works as a screenwriter, director, producer, editor, and educator. From writing and directing original films to consulting with fellow filmmakers, his career is built around one idea: great stories deserve thoughtful craftsmanship at every stage of production. Whether developing an original screenplay, producing a feature film, or helping another filmmaker solve production challenges, his focus remains the same: telling compelling stories that connect with audiences.

Career Conversion
from sports executive to filmmaker and educator
Long before becoming a filmmaker, Jack spent twenty years in professional sports.
He worked in public relations, player personnel, event operations, commercial production, and digital content, creating broadcast commercials, managing live productions, and writing for audiences ranging from thousands of fans in arenas to millions watching major sporting events. During that time, the organizations he worked with won six championships while setting league records for attendance and revenue.
Those experiences continue to influence his filmmaking today. Live production taught him to stay calm under pressure. Sports taught him collaboration. Filmmaking gave him a way to bring those experiences together through storytelling.
In addition to consulting with filmmakers, he teaches screenwriting through the City of Mentor and writes regularly about filmmaking, storytelling, and film history. He holds a Master’s degree in Film and Media Studies from Arizona State University, along with professional certificates in Screenwriting, Producing, and Writing for Television from UCLA.
